CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Come and enjoy the vast scientific experiences here on campus while also enjoying the fun and active environment of camp. During this week, the children will have an opportunity to dabble in many different scientific experiences. These experiences will range from classification of the plants on campus to the physics of our playground equipment. The children will spend each morning enjoying a team building activity, a short lesson on the topic of the day, free play, and even some sports. In the afternoon, the children will spend time participating in a hands on activity that will correlate with the morning’s lesson.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Brimmer and May Day Camp is specifically designed with the younger child in mind. Our goal is to enrich your child's summer experience through play, success, and engagement with other children and with our committed staff. All of our Head Counselors and Specialty Counselors are over 21 years old and most specialize in early childhood education and development. Every day each child from 3 to 10 years old will do a variety of activities: Music, Arts and Crafts, Sports and Games, Drama, Lego, Clay, Nature, Swimming.

Every child at Brimmer and May Day Camp swims every day in our heated pool and no one needs to come to camp knowing how to swim. We will teach your child how to swim!

Our Specialty Programs are taught by Brimmer and May faculty who have designed their program to enhance your child's summer learning in a creative way. They will be encouraged to attempt new things, test themselves and learn new stuff! They will get an hour of free swim in our heated pool every day.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The Counselor-in-Training program at Brimmer and May will provide an opportunity for students entering ninth and tenth grade to teach and work with younger campers as apprentice counselors while learning the ropes. CITs (also known as Campers-in-Transition) are under the supervision and direction of experienced professional staff. CITs will get an opportunity to work with each age group, and when appropriate, be asked to lead activities. Weekly meetings provide feedback and guidance throughout the summer.

CIT applicants must be available for the full camp day (8:15-4:15 p.m.) and can select either a full summer (all 8 weeks of the program) or either of two four-week sessions (first or second half of summer). CIT's are also required to attend pre-camp staff orientation.

CAMP FACILITIES: Lawrence Academy is a private boarding high school that offers summer programs. The campus has a swimming pool, 12 tennis courts, 3 indoor basketball courts, 8 athletic fields, a theater, dining hall, and numerous indoor air conditioned spaces. Summer programs are open to ages 3.5-17.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The 100-acre Lawrence Academy campus provides the setting for over 30 day camp offerings for children entering grades K–12 and an overnight English, Mandarin, Spanish, and French immersion program for American and international students. Summer Programs at Lawrence Academy are divided into three types: Day Camp, Specialty Camps, and Sports Camps. We offer nine one-week camp sessions beginning June 22, and ending August 21, 2015 for children entering Kindergarten through grade 12. The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. An on-campus swimming pool is available to all program participants.

CAMP FACILITIES: The main building at Belvoir is a historical mansion built in 1886, one of the Lenox great estates landscaped by Olmstead who created central park in New York City. There are now eighteen buildings on the site including four modern dorms subdivded into bunk rooms, four dancing studios, fifteen art studios, twenty two music studios, five theaters, two pools, six tennis courts, lawns, wooded paths, gardens, and all with a view of the Berkshire hills.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Belvoir is an individualized six week educational summer program with excellent teaching in all program areas. The fifteen MFA art teachers offer small classes in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fibers, black and white and digital photography and jewelry. Girls can elect one or many studio classes. The dance faculty teach graded classes of ballet, pointe, modern, jazz and tap. Belvoir has an appropriately challenging and fun dance class for every girl and all dancers enjoy performance opportunities. The large graduate music faculty offer twice weekly music lessons in all instruments and voice. There are opportunities for recitals, chamber music, opera, and orchestra.

Belvoir has a large theater program. Classes are offered in acting, musical theater and Shakespeare, with many large, quality performances in 4 theaters (2 indoor air-conditioned theaters). The department also offers writing, costuming and all aspects of technical theater. Campers enjoy high level sports instruction in tennis, swimming and riding. Archery, volleyball and basketball are also offered at Belvoir. The totally choice program, the supportive welcoming staff and campership make Belvoir a unique opportunity for young women excited about learning in the arts. Belvoir campers learn in their classes, enjoy camp events, parties, evening activities, trip-days, and make life-long friends!

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The campers have opportunities to learn leadership skills from an early age. Belvoir's program is based on each individual camper's choice. Through this individual programming, each camper is learning leadership skills. Also, various age groups have opportunities to lead part of, or the entire, evening activity. Learning how to work together, come up with a common theme, and structure the event adds to the leadership experience.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Active Learning Services, Ltd operates enrichment programs designed to stimulate creative thinking, improve thinking, logic and memory skills and give children "thinking alternatives" to sports camps and other summer programs. Our programs include chess programs and camps thru USA Chess, Our Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Programs and our Active Learning Computer Enrichment Programs.

Our staff is, comprised of the best children's chess instructors in North America! The USA Chess camps are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of the advanced scholastic player as well as the true beginner. USA Chess hit its first milestone in the summer of 2000 producing the largest chess camp ever held in the United States, with more than 250 students enrolled. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: SPOTLIGHT aims to engage today's youth in the discovery of theatre's many components. In an exciting, non-competitive, fun filled environment, we strive to enrich appreciation for Theater Arts through education, creativity, and passion. Participants receive theatre arts training both on stage and backstage which strives to foster each individual's talents and aspirations with an emphasis on teamwork and personal growth.

THE SPOTLIGHT THEATER WORKSHOP was designed not only to be a lot of fun, but to also focus on strengthening the skills of our participants and teaching them new and exciting elements involved in the performing arts. Some of our classes will include acting, singing, dancing, technical theater, improv, and auditioning skills. Also, we're very excited about incorporating film/television acting and production into the workshop!

Monologues will also be worked on during class time so that upon completion of the program, participants will be comfortable using their pieces at auditions in the future. There will also be many outdoor activities, free time, and special guests!

We strongly encourage families of first-time and veteran campers to join us. The weekend is an excellent opportunity for first-time campers to learn their way around Camp, meet some new friends and get comfortable before they arrive in the summer. Members of the Camp W*K Staff will also be in attendance to lead Planning Session, offer periods and answer questions.

In addition to being completely nut and sesame free, we easily accommodate gluten-free, dairy, wheat, soy, egg, and fish allergies. Vegans or Vegetarians also appreciate our menu options. Our chef uses only fresh ingredients, cooks and bakes from scratch, and ensures there is no cross-contamination of food products. We partner with our families in ensuring that all food sent to Camp is ingredient-checked before being sent to the bunk. This includes food items made with sesame or peanut oil and/or produced in a factory that uses sesame or nuts. The safety and well being of everyone at camp is our priority. In the event of any emergency, we are within five-to-seven minutes of the nearest hospital.

The Center for the Arts consists of three structures: one each for performance, music, and visual arts. Connecting all three is a shared indoor “arts street” and outdoor courtyard. The walls serve as a gallery, highlighting the arts as every member of the Brooks community passes through the building.

Brooks TV: Become a screenwriter, director, and movie star as you write and produce your own short film! Fractured Fairytales: No role is too small as you write, act, and produce your own short works of theatre! An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

Each weekday morning, Maker will post a new project or activity on their Google+ page—30 things to make over six weeks. Each weekday afternoon at 2 PM, tune in to a live Google+ Hangout On Air to meet expert makers who create amazing things.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers enjoy the JCC's air-conditioned, professional theater, art and dance studios, science classrooms, an indoor pool for lessons, and a zero-entry outdoor pool for free swim. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Kaleidoscope is dedicated to making camp a fun, nurturing, educational experience for each camper. Staff include well-trained bunk counselors ages 18 and up who work with groups of campers daily, and professional teachers who lead classes. All campers swim daily, with lessons offered twice weekly with our professional aquatics staff, utilizing the Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy methods. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CITs in grades 9-11 are an integral part of camp, providing leadership and receiving training while also pursuing their own interests. They create their own schedule under the guidance of dedicated CIT staff. They spend approximately half the day assisting camper groups or activities, and half the day pursuing their own interests. CITs pay a reduced rate.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial aid is based on need and may cover up to 50% of tuition. Financial aid applications are due by April 1. Aid is awarded by April 15. Specialists teach classes daily culminating in art and science exhibits and performances at the end of each four-week session. Counselors
Seeking mature, reliable, patient people who understand what it takes to make a camper's day a wonderful experience. JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts & Science Camp is a pluralistic camp welcoming the entire community. While camp is not easily accessible by public transportation, bus counselor positions are available from Framingham and Brookline. Counselors must be 18 years of age or older or high school graduates with demonstrated leadership skills and experience working with children. All counselors must be available for the full eight-week season.

Lower and Middle Camp Counselors work in pairs or groups of three and are responsible for a group of 10-15 campers entering grades K-3. They support and nurture campers throughout the day as campers attend activities in the arts, science, sports and swimming. Middle camp counselors may also assist in other areas throughout camp.

Upper Camp Counselors work with campers entering grades 4-8. They teach or assist in classes, activities and theatrical productions. Positions include: tennis and other sports teachers, costumer, assistant tech director for shows, guitar and piano teachers, boating specialists (lifeguard certification required), and crafts teachers. Upper Camp teaching counselors should have completed at least one year of college.

2D Game Design
Learn to program by creating your own 2D game! From side scroller to endless runner and anything in between, you will learn how to bring your idea to reality. At the end of this camp you will have a playable game that you can share with your friends and the experience and tools to make as many games as you want!

Digital Designer
Creating your own character can be overwhelming, but this class can teach you the steps you need to create a fully flushed out, real character! This class will teach you how to create a model of your character as well as all of the traits that make the character believable. You can use these characters in anything from D&D to professional animation!

Tabletop Game Inventor
Games come in all shapes, sizes, complexity, and feeling. In this camp students will start by learning how to think about game design and game flow, working through idea, prototype, and finally making a full game that they made and can play with their family and friends. Students will be able to craft their game using a variety of tools to help bring the beauty of their design into the real world.

3D Design in Blender
This class will teach you how to create an amazing 3D character in Blender! This class will focus on how to create your own characters in blender that can be used for any game you might use! We will focus on modeling, rigging, and rendering your character.

Game Dev in Unity 3D
Make a game that is uniquely yours using industry leading tools while learning the C# Programming Language! From RPG to adventure game, this camp is all about bringing your story and imagination to life, and at the end you'll have a game that is playable and shareable with your friends.

You'll be in charge of leading excited kids through challenging projects using, managing classroom conflicts, constantly learning and collaborating with other instructors. – this will be the toughest job you’ll ever love!

REQUIREMENTS: Flexible schedule: availability during weekday afternoons and some weekends a must during school year, full weekdays during summer months are available as well.

Experience and passion for teaching teenage students in an energized maker classroom or summer camp setting.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The faculty consists of renowned lecturers, veterans in International Mathematical Olympiads (IMO) and Olympiad coaches, who have successful careers in math, science, and technology, with many years of classroom teaching experiences.
