CAMP FACILITIES: At 200 feet, the Oliver Hazard Perry is the first ocean-going full-rigged ship to be built in the U.S. in over 100 years. It is the largest civilian sail training vessel in America. She has berths for 49 people overnight, and with 17 crew, a low camper to crew ratio creates a safe and fun environment. The ship is equipped with a steel hull, 3 masts, with square sails on all three masts, 20 sails totaling 14,000 square feet, and 7 miles of rope and wire. The engines run on a bio-diesel blend, and the ship is equipped with a modern galley (on-board kitchen), central air, an on-deck science lab, a library and wheel-chair accessibility above and below decks.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With 17 professional crew and a capacity for 30-34 campers, our program promotes a dynamic and safe learning environment with a 2:1 ratio of campers to instructors. Campers will feel the thrill of steering a 500-ton ship, and learn to work the yards and sails while exploring the beautiful coasts of New England. They will learn safety at sea and perform important safety drills while acquiring skills in navigation, seamanship, sail handling, knots, and the language of the boat. Campers will explore the underwater world through snorkeling. They will understand wind, waves, tides and the ecology of sandy and rocky seashores. Sunsets, sunrises and the night sky will serve as the backdrop for this incredible experience, in addition to marine phosphorescence, dolphins and whales. Teamwork is an integral part of success onboard the boat, and in addition to learning about themselves, and achieving things they never imagined, they will make friendships to last a lifetime.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: In addition to witnessing the natural magic of the ocean and its inhabitants, each student crew will make friendships to last a lifetime. Campers will take responsibility for themselves and their fellow shipmates, learning to work as a team with others as they hoist and brace the yards on the ship's 130-foot tall rig and apply acquired navigational skills to guide the ship's course on a voyage of discovery.

During our after school programs, summer camps, and workshops, we use the creative arts as a space to teach peace education. Community—The overarching “C”. The ultimate key to building peace is being able to coexist with those around you, and to build a functional community where issues are raised and resolved in a constructive manner.

Confidence Building—The basic “C”. You have to be able to accept yourself, and be happy with who you are in order to feel an essential part of building a peaceful community.

Conflict Resolution—The tough “C”. The most difficult aspect of working with others is resolving problems that arise in a manner that is beneficial for all involved. It is possible to easily find temporary solutions, but this is only the first step to conflict resolution. For true peacebuilding, one must also know how to find solutions that are sustainable, meets the needs of the community, and take into account the often numerous factors that contributed to causing and perpetuating the conflict.

Collaboration—The cooperative “C”. No community exists in a bubble, and it is important that members feel invested in working together and finding sustainable solutions. Without collaboration, solutions are only temporary.

Creativity—The innovative “C”. Sometimes, we need to think outside the box and use our imaginations to solve conflicts that arise. We have to be open to the ideas of others to make everyone feel comfortable.

Cookies—The fun “C”. One of our strongest beliefs is that the more enjoyable it is to be a part of a community, the more people are going to want to be involved in sustaining it. People must feel like they are having fun in order to be invested in solving conflicts and building a peaceful, equitable society.

CAMP FACILITIES: The Queens College is a beautiful landscaped 79-acre campus with out-door and in-door tennis courts and playing fields for soccer, softball and lacrosse. The Fitzgerald Gym is 40,000+ sq ft. basketball and volleyball courts and an 25 yard length pool.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: EDUCATION AND SPORTS PROGRAM: ages 5 -14 This program provides enrichment for youngsters who wish to develop talents and interests outside their regular schools. Faculty members have been selected for their ability to communicate the joy of learning to young students and to promote invention, creativity, and self-expression. All indoor classes are in air-conditioned classrooms. For the 5 & 6 year old we offer Kindergarten Academy or First Grade Academy which has small groups supervised by caring counselors. This program is combined with a half day of Sports activities, taught by experienced instructors who encourage the love of physical fitness, sports and good sportsmanship.

NEW QC Sports Club: Ages 9-14
Queens College facilities are among the best in the City. The spacious Fitzgerald Gym houses an Olympic-standard pool and basketball courts. Outdoor facilities include tennis courts, softball fields and soccer fields. Children ages 9 to 14 can choose a major/minor program that allows them to experience a number of different sports.

THEATER PRODUCTION: ages 9-14
Do you enjoy acting? Do you like to dance? Are you artistic—can you create scenery and costumes? Or would you rather go behind the scenes and become a stage manager? This program will teach campers the many different aspects to creating a successful musical play. The Theater Production will stimulate your child’s imagination while equipping them with valuable traits such as self-esteem and confidence. Join the fun as we put together a musical for parents and peers to see! Past musicals have included The Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, Oliver, Mary Poppins, and others!

LITTLE THEATER: ages 5 - 8
We will work on our dancing, singing and acting in the mornings then go have fun in the gym and fields in the afternoon along with instructional swim time. This year we're looking forward a production of Lion King and 101 Dalmatians. It's adorable!

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Counselor-in-Training Leadership Program for teenagers 15 and 16 focus on developing strong leaders. It helps prepare young adults for the next phases in their lives - college and the workplace. Gain job skills through training, discussion, observation & practical experiences. 8, 6 or 4 weeks programs. 8 week fee $2600.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: SPRING BREAK Sports Clinics: ages 6 to 13. April 10 to April 14, 9 to 3 $295. Ramapo for Children offers college students a valuable and highly unique summer job experience through one of our programs: Camp Ramapo. Ramapo runs one of the few residential summer camps that specifically serves children with social, emotional, and learning challenges. At our camp, staff members believe that all children want to succeed, and embrace the challenges of working with special needs children. CAMP FACILITIES: French Woods Sports and Arts Center features outstanding modern facilities that include a spacious multilevel dining room, heated pool, gymnasium, gymnastics center, fitness center, technology/communications center, recording studio, large theater, dance studio, rock music center, immaculate sports fields, 4 tennis courts, indoor and outdoor volleyball court, indoor and outdoor basketball court, a baseball diamond, archery range, a private lake, equestrian stables, 14 studios for classes and activities, an open air circus area, an advanced medical center, and two large Dormitory buildings (bunks) housing multiple suites that sleep 8 to 10 campers and counselors with en suite bathrooms, plus 3 additional bunk buildings. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: French Woods Sports and Arts Center provides the summer of a lifetime in a safe, supportive, supervised and age appropriate environment. Campers completely determine which activities they will participate in. There are six activities per day, each one hour in length; three of these periods are called majors and three are called minors.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our nurturing staff, typically current and former Green Ivy teachers along with returning camp staff, provide a caring and supportive environment and create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere to facilitate connection and friendship. We use a maximum ratio of 5 children to 1 staff member. CAMP FACILITIES: We have a 61,000 sq.ft. fully air-conditioned recreation facility with a 24,000 sq. ft. main arena and a 12,000 sq.ft. auxiliary gymnasium. The Main Arena has seating for all campers, counselors and parents. We have 60 acres of outdoor fields, all weather track, three NCAA fields (soccer, baseball and softball), special field for early childhood campers, and outdoor courts.

We have free door to transportation for all five day programs and free extended hours. Join Zoe who will be just back from her first year in Japan at the world-renowned Art University specializing in Manga, Kyoto Seika! A one -week intensive session of super manga drawing, anime reading and watching, painting, writing and maybe even a little Japanese. Including kid-friendly lunch every day!

CAMP FACILITIES: Each of our cabins is equipped with complete bathrooms/ showers, electricity, porches and plenty of space. (No bunk beds!) Cabins are designed to hold between 5-8 campers with a minimum of 3 staff members living in each cabin so that we can maintain our 2:1 camper counselor ratio.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Located along a secluded nine-mile lake in the Adirondacks of New York State is a private/ independent seven-week residential camp for 130 children from across the United States and around the world. Camp Northwood is oriented toward children with low self-esteem, immature social skill development, high functioning autism, Asperger's Syndrome and learning challenges in need of a structured and supportive, socially therapeutic summer experience. Northwood's program, developed and supervised by an outstanding staff of special educators, focuses on the development of independence, social skills, self-image and the maintenance of academic skills.

Each Northwood camper participates in a fully non-competitive, socially oriented, main-streamed styled camp program. A camper/ counselor ratio of 2:1 provides a high level of individualization at activities and in the cabin setting insuring success. In addition to traditional camp activities, each child participates in an individually designed academic program intended to help maintain current skill levels throughout the summer season. Northwood campers are exposed to a variety of social experiences designed to foster age-appropriate social skill development. Group social skill sessions and constant reinforcement within the cabin setting cultivate growth in each camper's ability to work as part of a team, interpret social situations and feel a sense of inclusion in the camp community.
